iOS Device Recovery - User Guide (Mac)

Part 1: Recover Data Directly from iOS Devices.


This recovery mode allows you to directly scan your iOS device to recover lost or deleted data from iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4 on Mac.

Step 1 - Download and Install program.

First download and install this program on Mac and you will get the primary interface as shown below.

Step 2 - Connect your iOS device to Mac.

Now connect your iOS device with Mac and run the program you installed. Then select the device option in the window according to your device. See the interface below for help.

Step 3 - Enter into the device system.

Follow the below steps to get into the DFU mode before scanning the device for lost data.
  • Hold the device and click 'Start' button in the software interface.
  • Then hold 'Power' and 'Home' buttons on your device at the same time for exact 10 seconds. The software will count for you and then just hold two buttons immediately after step 1.
  • After passing 10 seconds, release the 'Power' button but keep holding the 'Home' button. 10 seconds later you will be informed that you have successfully entered into the DFU mode and you can release the 'Home' button. Once the above process is finishes, click "Start Scan" to enter device system.
The tool will automatically communicate with the device and will proceed with the scanning as shown below.

Step 3 - Preview and perform selective or full recovery of data.

Once scanning finishes, all the recoverable data will be displayed in the scan result under their respective categories like Photo Stream, Camera Roll, Contacts, Messages, Photo Library and more. You can preview all of them and recover all or only selective one on your Mac by clicking "Recover" button.




Part 2: Recover Previous Data from iTunes Backup

Under this recovery mode you will be able to recover your previous data by extracting it from iTunes backup files. So, you need to have synced device with iTunes before you have lost it. Another important thing is don't sync your device with iTunes after you lost your data because iTunes will automatically update the backup file every time you sync and if it does that, then you will not be able to recover your data back again.

Step 1 - Choose the recovery mode.

Choose the recovery mode "Recover from iTunes Backup File" here for this case and you will get these interfaces as shown below.
The previous iTunes backup files will be displayed automatically. Choose the latest one if there are more than one files displayed and click on 'Start Scan' to extract it.

Step 2 - Preview and recover previous data.

Once the scan completes, preview all contents in details by clicking the categories one by one and either recover all of them or perform selective recovery by marking them and click "Recover" button.

                  



Part 3: Recover Previous Data from iCloud Backup..

This recovery enables you to preview and recover all data in your iCloud backup. Therefore, don’t backup your device with iCloud directly when you find data loss.

Step 1 - Choose the recovery mode and Sign in your iCloud

After finishing Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS, select the recovery mode of “Recover from iCloud Backup Files” on the top. A new window will appear below and enter your account and password to login.


Note: Wondershare never keep a record of any Apple account info or content during the process.

Step 2 - Download and scan your iCloud backup

The program can find all iCloud backup files in your account when you logged into iCloud. Choose the one option where you are going to recover data and click on the “Download” button. Then in the pop-up, you can choose the type of files you would like to download. By doing so, the time taken in downloading the iCloud backup files will be reduced.

After completing this process, you can now scan the iCloud content. Click on the “Scan” button to begin. This process will take some time.


Step 3 - Preview and recover whatever you want from the iCloud backup

The scan process will be complete in a few minutes. Now you can preview almost all data in your iCloud backup file such as photos, messages, contacts and more. Select the item you want to recover one by one and then click on the “Recovery button” to save them on your computer. If your iDevice is connected to your computer with a USB cable during the recovery process then messages, contacts and notes can be directly recovered to your iDevice.
